Polar bears

I became interested in polar bears after I read an article talking about the polar bears and how the ice melting is affecting them. They are dying because the ice is melting. They have to swim a long distance between the ice pieces to search for food. Sometimes they travel for maybe more than 20 miles, and they die trying. “Polar bears are strong swimmers, they are adapted for swimming close to the shore. Their sea journeys leave them vulnerable to exhaustion, hypothermia or being swamped by waves” says Will Iredale in his article (2005, par. 12). The main reason for this is the climate change. The temperature is rising and there is more heat; because of that the ice is melting and the bears are having trouble because of that. There are 22,000 who live in many sites and this number is declining, according to Mr. Iredale in his article (2005). There is a movement in the United States to put the polar bears on the endangered species list, but the Bush administration has refused it, according to National Geographic (2006). Driving cars is one of the reasons that make the heat of the climate rise. In the city of Churchill there are many tourists who come every year to see polar bears in the wild. In this small city in the summer, because of the ice melting the polar bears come to look for food and a place to stay. Finally every year there are more bears dying because of food or because they are trying to swim long distances and die trying.
Three things should be done to help the polar bears. First, the White House must make a law that protects polar bears and put them on the endangered species list. Second, there must be cooperation between the countries that have polar bears in their lands to protect them. Third, people must know that the bears are dying because of their cars, and they should do something about it.
I think if the White House didn’t do something abut that who will? The main thing is they should but the polar bear under their protection. They have the power and they can do it and they should do it.
In another hand, countries must cooperate together to save the polar bears and protect them from the climate change or to give them a place to live in specially the countries that have polar bears in their lands.
Last, people need to know that when they drive their cars they are destroying nature and the polar bear with it. The gas that is getting out from their cars is affecting the climate and raising the temperature in the planet, and this whole thing in the end is killing the bears. I’m not saying that people should not drive, all I’m saying is they should try to ride their bike or walk if they could.
In conclusion, White House must put polar bears under their protection, countries need to cooperate to help the bears, people need to know that they are part of the problem.
